Not only are berry smoothies delicous but there’s a lot of great stuff packed into those tiny berries. Most commercial smoothies are full of sugar *cough* McDonalds *cough* so I always prefer to make my own at home. When I had my wisdom teeth removed I basically lived off smoothies and I found berry smoothies are the perfect vehicle for getting your greens without you even knowing it! So if you’re trying to fool some picky eaters this is definitely one of the best ways to do it. I’ve tried carrots, broccoli and avocado in my smoothies. Avocado is a great in smoothies because of its mellow flavour and creamy texture.
Makes 2 large glasses
1 1/2 cups frozen mixed berries
1 tbsp. almonds
1 tsp. sesame seeds
1 tsp. flax meal
1 tbsp. hemp protein powder
1/2 cup almond, soy or rice milk
1. In a blender mix together the orange and kiwi.
2. Add the frozen berries and pulse.
3. Add the almonds, sesame seeds, flax meal and protein powder and pulse.
4. Finally add the avocado and almond milk and pulse until everything is well combined. If you feel the berries don;t sweeten it enough on their own add some honey
